This table is the inspiration to design something from paper.

The finished result all framed and displayed in the Confluence Gallery

for your viewing enjoyment.

My class on March 1st, this project will be a smaller size (6x6), wood plaques, inwhich you will be able to make your own design.

I will teach the concept and give you alternative ideas on

how to accomplish the task.

I have called this Faux Leatherette. Mostly due to the texture and how it feels. Much like a tooled leather saddle or handbag. I think it's pretty cool

that it is made from paper, ink,glue, and some embossing.

One of the members challenged us to make something

from this idea.

This is one of the projects I have completed. I also have a wall hanging in the works as well. I will publish that for you soon. I think this would be a great class. Anyone interested?

Easter Egg Hunt

My first creation of 2012 for Easter.

I just thought these little chicks needed to be in control of the Egg Hunt!

The Garden Hat stamp is from Stampin Up! called, "Garden from the Heart" and the little Chicks are from "Love You Much" stamp set.

I also used a die from Tim Holtz Alterations Collection "Scallops"

for the eggs and the grass.

I took a snow day off from work,

as most of our clients took the day off from coming in to our.

Having a blast working getting ready for my card class next week.

Wed, Jan 25th 11-3pm

Here is my Freedom Friday card.

I made Six of these cards with different paper roses.

Card stock is Soft Suede 5 x 10 " size
7 different Designer papers edged punched with 5 different punches.
Calyso Coral Card Stock for face layer hand made paper roses, with die cut leaves.
Very fun and much prettier than this pictures shows.

Christmas is past and seems so far away now. New Year 2012 is upon us and it seems as soon as I get ready for Valentines...someone says; what are you planning for Easter.
Oh Brother, I can barely think it's Valentines Feb 14th, let alone Easter which is the 8th of April.
But I will do my best.

Yes it's that time of year again....Welcome to Winthrop, meet us at the Barn for loads of fun! Santa will be there and so will Karen's Family Salon.
Stepanie Mitchell and myself are going to have a SHELLAC ATTACK!

ADVENT CALENDERS @ The Confluence Gallery

Hello.....I have been really busy these days.

Back to work in Salon in Winthrop, moving to Winthrop, and trying to keep up on my first Art Love...PaperArt.

Here are four of my first commissions.

Four Calenders each with hand made frames by my husband Kris, all painted by yours truly.

WHEW!!!

I think they turned out really great. What a job!

I know now that an artisans' craft is not deemed successful on the amount of cash flow coming in. Only on the rewards they achieve from the Love of their art, and seeing the faces of the people who take it home.

I am truly grateful to the Confluence Gallery for allowing me to be a part of the journey.

Paper art wizard Leslie Strand will demonstrate a super graphic design program on Thursday November 17^th at 5:30, 30 minutes prior to the quarterly artists meeting.

The ‘My Digital Studio’ program. She will demonstrate how to create amazing cards, calenders, digital scrapbooks among other things.

Leslie has tried a lot of different programs, and says this one rises above the rest. It is user friendly, affordable and capable of producing complex designs. Leslie will give an overview of the product, demonstrate how it works and answer questions.

I will be having personal classes available for this item. You could have a class at your own home and invite max of 4 people. Sure is fun though to sit and play while creating such a beautiful piece of Art.

Good Morning everyone.....

It definatley feels and appears it's Fall. This is my first fall type card for this year.

Pumpkin Punch made from the large oval and medium oval punches from Stampin Up. Some pumpkin pie ink to the edges and shaping and we have two cool looking pumpkins. You could make Jack-o-lantern faces for these too if you wanted it for Halloween.

I thought it turned out quite nice.

This next card I made in an attempt to use the pulled background but ended up a mixture and I used some new stamps from Layers of Colours Art Stamps.

Hello there,

I have been down with a bug for a few weeks so I now have had time to explore and find out what I wanted to share for the holidays.

I will be at the Confluence Gallery on October 15th, 10-2pm, making these lovely cards and baubles.

The inspiration came from my friend Valita Reynolds (note her blog link here).

I have added a bit of my own ideas using the Petite Pennant Builder Punch from Stampin Up.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have been having a glorious summer thus far.

I have been so busy making Brides beautiful on their wedding day and others here at my Studio, that my card creating has been at a premium.

I have two new cards for you.

The first one is a re-make of Andrea Walford's from Papercrafters Library. See link at the right!

Just want to give credit where it is due.

The second one is a special make for my son's girlfriend. She is giving it to her friend for a birthday. I saw this example in the Card magazine.

I used all Stampin Up! products and changed it up some.

I will be conducting another open card making class at the Confluence Gallery soon so stay tuned!

Baby Flowers for Hair Ornaments

Last night I had this thought about mini flowers in hair.....

Being a Hair Dresser and in the mind set of wedding hair these days....I made these really cute mini flowers.

I just happen to be dressing a bridal party this Saturday and these are some of her colors.

Paper Art Club @ The Confluence Gallery

Hi everyone,

Well Summer finally made it to our wonderful Valley. Looks like the weather guy, Mr. Biddle, was right on!

I am excited to start the summer off as well, showing you how to make some cards, and different paper art techniques. I hope you will join me at the Gallery Saturday July 16th 1-4. Cost: $15.00 payable to the Gallery.

Below is one of the items we will be making. We may only get to this one as it is easy but time consuming. This is a great little gift holder for lip balm or some candy or just a little note for a larger gift.

My friend Jenny gave me the purple one and so I thought I'd share. These and other works of mine, as usual will be on display at the Confluence Gallery for your viewing and touching pleasure.

If I get some interest we may start a Tri-shutter book, however, if no one signs up for that, we will go ahead with the cards anyway. The Tri-shutter class consists of two classes to complete and will cost $40.00. Please reserve for this by July 11th through the Gallery. Otherwise I won't have time to prepare it for you.

Hi just a little fun with a NEW baby card. The card idea is not new but the baby is.

I also had a special request from my friend to make a card for her daughters Birthday. Happy Birthday Britta.

the red art work is the card box, then the other one is the card to go in the box. Again the Rose was a live one at one time. I had to make a box to give the card in due to the size of the card. But I went even further and made it so she could use the box for other things.

Guess what Father's Day is coming

Since my Father past away many years ago and my sons are all grown. We really kind of forget that day!

I am sorry to say that but boys aren't as good as girls in remembering special dates.

At least mine aren't.

But I have some cards to share, my husband is taking one to send to his Dad, and my sons girl friend got one for her Dad and for Jere to give to my husband. See the girls just take over the job!

That is so nice.

I used metal duc tape for these and embossed them... a new technique I just learned. I would give credit but now I can't find the web site I got it from. Sorry to the person I borrowed it from.

Again used my hand made paper buttons on this card as well.

I found these really cool white ink pens from Sharpie at the Craft Warehouse in Wenatchee. two sizes and used them for lettering. Make the black paper look like a chalk board.

I got a wreath a few years ago and have been saving the corrugated box it came in since then. My friend Linda says "Leslie, save everything it will come in handy some day" She was sure right with this one. I cut it all up for cards and made one 12x12 cover for a scrapbook.

A Special Birthday Gift

I made these two cards for my Father in Law and Mother in law for their birthdays.

I missed both of them because I was trying to decide how to make these cards.

The technique I have used before but I was inspired by all of the layers and new products and tools to use by Andrea Walford of Papercrafters Library.

The cards here are examples of what can be created NOT EXACTLYwhat we are making. Remember you can't always duplicate creation.

Each will create a different design according to their creativity.

How fun will that be?

My next class will be taught on Multi Medium paper art.

Using many different types of layers and textures to create a beautiful piece of art to give away or keep for yourself.

This project is relatively simple, but it takes time and is a bit laborious.

Bring baby wipes to class and don't wear nice clothes.

We will be using paints and inks and glues and all kinds of new tools.

We won't be completely finishing the card in class, but you will take it home to embellish how you like. I will have some items for you to use if you want them.

This technique came from the brilliant minds at Papercrafters Library PCL. Andrea Walford and Sophia Landry.
I changed it up a bit due to lack of the exact tools and paper products listed in their project. However, I am truly happy with the results. I think we are going to have a great time making this little box and cards.
At the class, which I am now calling; "The Paper Art Club" and will refer to this every time I talk about what we are doing each month. I will talk about the project and have all ready for you to assemble. It will contain all that is needed. I will have a short set of easy instructions, so you may follow along as we build it.
The class has a maximum attendance of 6 lucky people. Minimum of 3 and it will still go forward.
We need a confirmation of attendance within 10 days prior to the class. Prepayment of the class will be needed 5 days prior as well.

Hi,

I know it must seem like forever since my last post.

I have been taking a breather.

So much to do before a class, and with my regular life,

I was a bit warn out. ( just plain pooped).

So now I am planning our next event. I am thinking of a technique class. I have heard through the grape vine that there is interest in knowing how to use different tools, and create all sorts of texture in the paper art. My next class will be ALL About Texture!

This is still in the works and the location is also. Stay tuned and watch for some of the work that I will be showing with the techniques you will learn.

Trying something NEW

I saw this design in a magazine, but it was designer paper. I decided to attempt it with punches and some fun flourish stamps. Each piece is individually punched, cut in half and stamped. then sponged with coordinating ink. Layered on with demensionals and smail adhesive.
I like it but it won't be a class project, I can't imagine sitting there trying to put this together. If I was attending this class I would give up! So just wanted to share an experiment, someone will recieve this as a Thank You gift someday. Have a great week.

is 29 on the 5th of February, which is Saturday.

I always make him a special card.

This time it was more difficult, masculine cards

are challenging for me.

I did it though!

I also used a piece of wood that my husband shimmed off

of a board from a cabinet project.

I embossed it with a wood grain plate

and put it on the card.

I love using natural wood on my cards.

I was sitting at my desk with all these hearts

and red and white paper around me...

thinking, what am I going to do with this?

My mind seems to be blank.

So after punching and stamping a bunch of items,

amazing like a puzzle they all came together.

New Designer Kits ~ MY VERY OWN

Love to hear responses. What you think about this project?

I always wanted to start out with a kit...I really didn't want to invest in a lot of product. When I bought my first kit and made 8 cards...well I was hooked.

So I have completed 3 kits from retired stamps and extra card stock.
I feel they turned out really nice and relatively simple to construct. You be the judge. I welcome your thoughts!

I supplied each kit with Stampin Spots and two or three stamps. Pre-cut all CS and ribbon and brads etc.

All they will have to do is put them together. I also designed some techniques in to the project,(emboss resist)

and embossing with big shot so they can see what tools are available. Then I took photos and wrote out instructions, printed it and enclosed them all in a to go box made from recycled material.

I tied a cute bow on top and will display the pre-made card on the top to show how it turns out.

This was time consuming, as I had a time getting the ideas. Thankfully, I have a bunch of card magazines, friends and the Stampin'Up Catalog to inspire me.

Back to work, with more projects. Friday night is coming really fast.

Jesus Cares ~ Inspirational Note Cards

I was so blessed today by my friend Peggy.

She works with the elderly in a family home care facility

spreading the Word of Jesus.

She asked me to make her some note cards with a simple saying on the inside to give to her friends when she chats with them about Jesus. They can have it on their tables or nite stand as a reminder that Jesus does care!

Today was a glorious day to sit and create these, not only for the ministry of a friend, but knowing those who will receive them will be blessed.

I share them with you in hopes to inspire and bless you as well.

I decided to make them fit the top note candy box.

Just Friendship ** Making It Simple Card Kit

I decided it might be nice for those of you who are not interested in getting so involved with stamping and purchasing all the items that go with that endeavor. So a kit to get you going and have a little fun this winter might be in order.

Center Stage Alumni Blog Hop: CAS Limited Supply Challenge
The challenge is to create a CAS card or project that contains only the following items and no others:
Your design must be CAS - Clean And Simple: lots of white or open space with one main focal point
One image
One sentiment
One layer card - your card base plus only one more layer
Embellishments - you can use any number of embellishments you want, but they all must be the same color

Here's mine: I figured since it said open spaces or white I would break out of the box...I didn't have any white left after creating a Stamp a Stack event.

"Ode to the Unknown Card Designer"

Good Day to you all

I cased this card from someone wonderful who attended Convention. However, there wasn't a name on the card.

I hope if you see your card here just send me a note and I will give credit where credit is due!

I just loved this. It was simple, clean, and very elegant for anyone to give out "just to say hello, or I love you!"

I changed the card stock colors a bit due to not having the originals colors.

Going Gray, Temp Tourq, and Bashful Blue was the base card.

I stamped the flower on photo paper and used versa mark and embossed white (which was a challenge as it kept bubbling up when I got the heat too close)

then water colored the flower. I also used temp tourq marker to hilite it after the water dried. Bashful blue ribbon.

In this technique I used the following supplies:

Stampa-ma-jig

This was a great card to make.

Normal Card Size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2

White 4 x 5-1/4 Embossed

Red CS - 2 x4

Blk - 1-7/8

White - 1-5/8

After Cutting our all card stock then stamping begins.

This is where the stampa-ma-jig is invaluable.

I stamped on the plastic just how I wanted the two stamps to join together. Then I proceeded to use that template to stamp on the small white cs. I also stamped again on another piece of white cs to make the duplicate for the punched out focus piece. After stamping then punch out your circle, It should fit right inline with the one you put on the small white piece. Stamp the flower and leaves out and cut them to embellish it. I used non Stampin Up bling, sometimes we have to use what we have.

It wasn't suppose to be a Holiday card but I think it works, Don't You?

FRIENDLY TREES

I'm back....

Decided to try a really challenging card two days ago and finally after several pieces of card stock going in recycle...I finally made it!

This idea came partly from my Canadian Soul Sister, Barb Tripps, SU Demo. She taught me how to make my own DSP. Thanks Barb, you're the best!

However, the technique came from a magazine.

They used real DSP so I figure I one up'd them.

I stamped all the trees on two 12x12 sheets of Very Vanilla CS in Going Grey, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip and River Rock. Alternating the colors and the trees. WHEW!! Then I cut out two circles, one larger and one inside of that one. I had to make sure the circles would line up with the mat behind the circle. The first set of trees ended up being too large...

so I used the other set of trees from the lovely as a Tree Stamp set.

I ended up cutting the stamp in half and using it on my clear acrylic stamp base. Well...it worked, now I just will have to buy another stamp set.

It's a 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 card which is large and so I need to really buy envelopes.

One has chocolate chip ribbon, and the other one has both choc chip and the new chantilly lace ribbon. I used the Just Believe Stamp Set for the greeting in Choc Chip Ink.

Spot Lighting

I am not sure I am as happy with these as I could be. But practice makes perfect, it may take me forever to be perfect so I will show you what imperfection looks like anyway!

The first on called HOPE
I did not have the stamp set as it was not Stampin'Ups so I used similar stamps, which are discontinued. DOODLE THIS and TIME WELL SPENT.
You stamp one sheet then color it. Stamp a second sheet and leave it neutral.
Punch out the focus area with a die cut or a punch of choice. Then adhere the colored piece over the focus spot.
I really had to improvise and make some art by hand. You be the judge. Let me know how I over came adversity.

This one was a bit better I didn't break any rules this time.

Inspired By Another

Hello,
Hope your day is going great. Mine sure is. I am home working in my Card/Salon today and having a great time creating all kinds of Art.
As a stylist, I create Art every day in the Salon, but at home I can really let go. Here is another idea which was again inspired by a magazine.
Using the INSPIRED BY NATURE STAMP SET
I used micro beads to add accent to this card.
I stamped it in CRUMB CAKE, used KRAFT CARD STOCK AND OUR NEW DSP "NEWSPRINT'
I made two of these in two different colors. I like the abstract of the grey tones with the color added.

Another Case from Card Makers Magazine.

This actually was fun but alot of work cutting,
which to be honest I really don't like to cut things out.

But this little pumpkin is embossed, and textured and has Stampin'UP DSP from last year. The DSP name escapes me, but it's the one
we all made the fall leaf, wreath, from.
Say that three times, and you win!

Hope you enjoy this one. It's really large size 6x6 so now I have to buy more envelopes. Imagine that!

Well, I am mimicking the pros now. Taking my ideas from magazines and publications to help inspire me.

I decided to use this stamp even though it's retired.

I never got to use it before.

This technique is from the Card Maker magazine. I don't have any large tree stamps, hence the asian stamp set came to life.

Below the card, are the instructions.

Asian Artistry (Retired)

Saying from Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set

Pre stamp your layout with stampa ma jig for placement

Color your Stamps with the markers

Stamp your Very Vanilla CS with the stamps

Keeping and eye on where you are placing them so they are as close to a match as possible.

Cut one of the very vanilla sheets after they are stamped in to three pieces. Decide which area is your focus.

I chose the middle but I have made it with the side pieces as focus.

Layer all of your colors.

BACK TO SCHOOL DAZE BACK PACK

Learn how to make this one-of-a-kind mini backpack-shaped scrapbook album. This 6" x 8" album was designed with a unique binder ring system to emulate the look of a binder. With both a boy and girl version, the 18 page layouts and custom-designed, coordinating page elements allow you to capture a snap shot of a child's life. Saturday September 25th, 11-4 in Carlton. I have been waiting all weekend for time to get back to my card room. With the Labor Day Holiday nearing the end...I am finally there. These cards were created in the last two weeks.

Next is to get ready for my project class on Sept 25th 11-4pm right here in Carlton, Wa

I have purchased a great toutorial from Andrea Wolford. We are making back to school back pack photo albums. It's a hoot! Can't wait to see how many Methowians are joining me. If not, no problem, maybe when you see here how cool it is you will not want to miss out on this one.

Hey, to everyone.. or EH!

I spent a glorious weekend with the most fabulous folks in Comox, BC.

So here's the story:

Over the mountains and through the woods...to lalalala Canada I go...my horse doesn't know the way but the ferry carried my sliegh through the wild and foggy slough OHHH over the water and through the border guards, to Canada land I go...lalalala my new friend knows the way, so I left my sliegh, and wandered where ever they know. OKAY!

I know I am neither a poet or a singer, I confess the issue, howevr, I can't tell you enough how wonderful and serving this group of people were.

Not only to eachother, but to this wandering American.

Below are the beautiful cards that I was given in our swap and some of the ones we made for make and takes.

I did a little changing to Rhea Andersons Magnolia Flower

Fun little change up I think!

HOW?

Each Punched out Petal was inked then crumpled until so distressed that I could separate the petals in two.

Then followed her technique, and smooched it.

It's really soft and fragile but I will now put a stem on it and make a few more for a vase. Watch for the finished look soon.

I couldn't make Stampin'Up! convention in Salt Lake City, so my lovely friend Jenny who is also my upline, is taking them for me.

FATHERS DAY WASN'T ALL THAT INSPIRED ME

Well, I was inspired, decided to dig out a stamp set I bought early last year but never opened..Pendant Park. Followed the design in the new Catalog.

Next viewed a tutorial on
You Tube to make this lovely Magnolia flower. Stampin Mamas blog , Teresa Hafso directed me to this great flower. Thanks Teresa for putting it out there.

Then on to the reason for the Season. Dad's Day. I made this cute card for my Dad in Law. Hope your Fathers Day was the best Dad. My husband Kris went to see him for the occasion. I stayed home healing and making cards and taking care of our 5 babies....haha 4 doxies and 1 big blonde Golden Retriever. Have a great Day, I am!

Happy Memorial Day!

I memory of those who died for us and those fighting now to keep our freedoms. Which allow us the ability to do things we are blessed to do. Such as sitting in a craft room and designing creations that can enhance not only our lives but others.

I enjoyed the opportunity to attend a wonderful weekend in Sequim Washington, and this is just a few ideas I accomplished from the designs that were taught to us by Sandi MacIvor, StampinUp! demonstator from Portland, Oregon.

These techniques were accomplished with the help of many women at the event.

I came home and discovered a renewed interest in card creating.

I haven't been updating my blog lately. Became overwhelmed with life.
Hence the name of my card...finally out of the storm and in to the sunshine.
I decided to use up some StampinUp discontinued products and make these cute little bug guys.
I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.
